After spending seven years at Queens Park Rangers’ youth system, Liverpool signed the young midfielder for an initial £660,000 fee in February 2010. This fee could potentially rise to £5 million depending on appearances. Sterling made his first appearance in a pre-season friendly against Borussia Mochengladbach in Germany on August 1st 2010. The 17 year old is yet to make an official appearance for the senior team but has been named an unused substitute. Sterling has mainly been used in the club’s youth them were he scored on his debut against Hibernian. Sterling showed Kenny Dalglish what he was capable of by scoring a sensational 5 goals against Southend in the FA Youth Cup. Liverpool went on the win the game 9-0. Sterling is determined to prove to his manager that he has the potential to be one of the most dangerous attackers in the English game and will break into Liverpool’s first team sooner rather than later if his progress continues.
