Clark swoops for Ambrose

Darren Ambrose has joined Birmingham City from Crystal Palace for around £250,000. The midfielder arrives at St Andrews on a two-year deal.

During his time at Palace, Ambrose scored 34 goals in 140 games. Before moving to Selhurst Park in 2009, the 28-year-old had spells at Ipswich, Charlton and Newcastle.

Ambrose will be remembered by most Palace fans for his jaw-dropping goal at Old Trafford in the 2011 Carling Cup Quarter Final win against Manchester United.

This is new Blues boss Lee Clark's fourth summer signing after bringing in Peter Lovenkrands, Hayden Mullins and David Lucas.

On tying up the deal, Ambrose told the club website: "I'm absolutely buzzing at the moment.

"I can't wait to get going. It's been a hectic few days to get it done but this is a positive move for me at this point in my career and I can't wait.

"Hopefully we can improve as a team on last year and go one better."
