Fabrice Muamba plays football on holiday

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has revealed that he played football again back in May, just two months after his horrific collapse on the pitch.

The midfielder suffered a heart attack during the Trotters FA Cup quarter-final with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on March 17 whilst his heart was later revealed to have stopped for a staggering 78 minutes.

Muamba was discharged from hospital on April 16, having been fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, but his career continued to hang very much in the balance.

However, the former England under-21 international has now revealed that whilst on holiday in Dubai in May, he enjoyed a 25 minute match.

"I was on holiday and I was staying in a hotel and there were quite a few footballers in the hotel as well," revealed Muamba.

"The staff usually play against the visitors so I was by the pool and I heard they were playing football.

"Then I went across and saw other footballers playing and I told my friends and Shauna - I told her 'I am sorry but I am going to play football.

"She goes 'are you sure?' and I say 'yes' and I just went in there.

"I just went in through the groove and played for about 20-25 minutes. It was just playing like normal, it was just playing like I was training. It was great, I enjoyed it."
