Hendry to be given Blackburn Rovers role

Colin Hendry is poised to become Blackburn Rovers' new first team coach and will focus on improving the side’s defensive stability next season.

The 46-year-old was first offered the post in May and, after weighing up his options over the summer, has now accepted the role.

Hendry has effectively started his new role already, as he has been involved with the squad during their Austrian pre-season training camp.

The former Scotland international made 399 appearances for Rovers and won the Premier League title with the club in 1995.

A former Blackpool manager, Hendry had a break from football after leaving Clyde on compassionate grounds in 2008.
