Kean aims to keep Hoilett

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean remains hopeful that the club can keep hold of Canadian prized asset and out of contract winger Junior Hoilett (pictured) this summer.

The 22-year-old has been identified as a key target by Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill, whilst a number of other suitors including German Champions League qualifiers Borussia Monchengladbach are expected to make an approach for his services.

Kean maintains Rovers can still fight off all interested parties and re-sign Hoilett, one of the major highlights in last season's disappointing campaign that ultimately ended up in relegation from the Premier League.

"Junior is out of contract and we've made him a very good offer. It's not dead yet, said Kean talking to the Shields Gazette.

"If a club in this country signs him, there will be big compensation. We'd like him still to be here but I'm in the dark a little bit.

"When a player runs out of contract, you make him a good offer and if he doesn't sign, you fear the worst but we'll just have to wait and see."
