McEachran is Boro-bound

Middlesbrough have signed 19-year-old Josh McEachran on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The highly-rated midfielder has found first-team chances hard to come by at Stamford Bridge and Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo has allowed McEachran to leave to get more playing time.

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is hoping that the youngster will add flair and creativity to his team’s Championship promotion campaign.

Oxford-born McEachran currently has eight England Under-21 caps to his name and made a handful of Premier League appearances for Swansea on loan at the back-end of last season.

He is among eight new signings that Mowbray has brought in this summer, as the Boro boss also tied-up the signature of Swiss goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler this morning.

It has been a summer of rebuilding for Boro, that have lost ten members of last season’s first team squad.

Their Championship season got off to a poor start on Saturday, as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Barnsley, but McEachran could be in the team to face Burnley on Tuesday night.
