Only the Best for Kean

Blackburn Rovers have snapped up forward Leon Best from Newcastle for a reported £3m.

The 25-year-old joined the Magpies in February 2010 from Coventry City, but had an injury-hit spell on Tyneside, including spending the last three months of last season on the side-lines.

He scored 10 goals in 46 appearances for the Toon, however with the explosive arrivals of Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba last season Best found his first team opportunities limited at St James’ Park.

The Nottingham-born striker has signed a four-year deal and now has the task of firing Rovers into the Premier League at the first attempt.

Best is Blackburn Boss Steve Kean’s second summer signing so far, after the capture of former Fulham captain Danny Murphy.
