Atletico stun Valencia with four-goal haul

Atletico Madrid beat La Liga rivals Valencia 4-2 in an action-packed Europa League semi-final first leg at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

The home side took the lead in the 18th minute, when Arda Turan crossed for Radamel Falcao to score from close range.

Valencia equalised just before half-time. Adil Rami flicked on a corner and Jonas poked in from close range at the far post.

Poor Valencia defending saw Miranda's header give Atletico a 2-1 advantage four minutes into the second half.

The home side scored their third goal of the night on 54 minutes when Adrian Lopez's firm strike found the back of the net.

Falcao's powerful strike made it 4-1 on 78 minutes, before Valencia replied with a crucial second away goal when Ricardo Costa scored with virtually the last kick of the game.
