Beckham to feature in opening ceremony

David Beckham has revealed in a recent interview with CNN that he is to play a cameo role in Friday’s Olympic opening ceremony.

The 37-year-old LA Galaxy midfielder would not reveal any details of the event however, stating that he wasn’t permitted to shed any light on what will take place.

"No, I'm not allowed to, but it's exciting, I'm excited to be part of such a huge occasion for our country and for everybody involved in these Games” said Beckham.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder originates from London’s East End, so is relishing the opportunity to be part of the games in his home city.

"It's exciting to have the Olympic Games in the East End of London and for myself to be part of that, I'm very honoured."
