Ronaldo's stunning strike gives Real Madrid a seven point advantage in La Liga

Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid

Saturday night's El Clasico at the Nou Camp was a classic indeed as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 to open up a seven point lead at the top of La Liga, thanks to a brilliant winner from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid broke the deadlock with a goal from Sami Khedira in the 17th minute.

Pepe's far post header from an Angel Di Maria corner was saved one-handed by Victor Valdes in the Barca goal, but Carles Puyol hesitated with the loose ball at his feet and Khedira poked home.

Substitute Alexis Sanchez made an immediate impact as Barca drew level on 70 minutes.

Andres Iniesta's flick found Tello, whose shot was saved, but Real failed to clear and Sanchez scrambled the ball home at the second attempt.

But it was left to Ronaldo to win it with a stunning strike two minutes later.

Mesut Ozil's pass from the right set up Ronaldo and he smashed a shot past Iker Casillas at the near post.

Sergio Busquets (Barcelona) 15

Pepe (Real Madrid) 44

Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) 47

Ozil (Real Madrid) 77
